Data, SEO & Redirect Preservation
The unglamorous discipline that decides whether a migration succeeds: complete data, mapped redirects and rankings that survive the move.
Where Migrations Are Won and Lost
Search engines do not care that you replatformed. They care that the URL which ranked for five years now returns a 404. Rankings lost in a sloppy migration can take a year to claw back, which makes redirect mapping the highest-value spreadsheet you will ever own.
We treat data and SEO preservation as its own workstream inside every migration, with its own checklist and its own sign-off.
The Preservation Checklist
- Every indexed URL inventoried from your sitemap, analytics and Search Console
- One-to-one redirect mapping, not lazy wildcard rules that dump visitors on the homepage
- SEO titles, meta descriptions and structured data carried over and rebuilt for Shopify
- Image filenames and alt text preserved, because image search traffic is traffic
- Order history and customer records reconciled, with counts that match before cutover
After Launch
We monitor crawl errors, index coverage and ranking movement through the weeks after cutover, when problems surface, and fix what appears. Migration support does not end when the new store goes live; it ends when search has settled.
